I’m Back! My Life in 2015

Hellooo!

It has been a while…

So I decided to mess around on both blogger and WordPress for blogging platforms this past year.  I decided to keep this blog since I love WordPress the most! Sorry, Blogger. 😉

Although I don’t post often, my goal for 2016 is to post on this blog at least three times a month.  For me, blogging is an easy way to express myself in any way.  I can talk about whatever I want!  I am definitely not the greatest writer (not even close) but I am ok with that!  Overtime I’m sure my writing skills will improve.

Here’s a little peak on what happened in 2015:

  1. I had the best last time in my high school career the second semester of Senior Year.
  2. I made the decision of where I was going to end up for the next four years of my life just two weeks before I had to commit to one out of the seven schools that I was accepted to.
  3. I graduated.  I never thought the day would come, but it did.  It was very nostalgic.
  4. I decided to let myself relax and work part time during the summer and spend as much time as I could with family, my boyfriend, and friends before heading off to school.
  5. I moved to Eugene, Oregon AKA home to the Ducks.
  6. I began classes.
  7. meet types people I have always longed to be around.
  8. Failed my first two midterms.
  9. Began struggling in my classes but made it out with no C’s!!
  10. Rushed a sorority and then dropped out.
  11. Grew and learned more about myself in two months than I have in 19 years of living.
  12. Realized I didn’t want to be a business major anymore.  I’m still undecided.
  13. Gained some (nothing short of amazing) best friends in my hall.
  14. Realized it’s more than ok to learn and fail.  To take time to take care of yourself and mental health.  To tell people that no, I am not having the best time at school and away from my family and the home I grew up in.  It’s ok to be selfish and feel the feelings that I have been feeling.  It’s ok to not have a roadmap of your life.  Life happens in ways you never thought could.

I wish you all nothing short of the best in 2016.

xo,

Paris

Places to Eat: Seattle

                                   imgres-1

Traveling to Seattle soon and want to find some great food at local restaurants?  Here are a couple places you may want to try out:

Blue C Sushi-$$

Looking to find some of the best sushi in the PNW?  Definitely check out Blue C Sushi.  There are multiple locations around the area of Seattle and are usually in a downtown area.  Blue C Sushi is very popular but never too crowded.  Their staff is very helpful and considerate.  The place is very hip and fun, you almost feel like you’re in Japan.

Zeeks Pizza-$$

Definitely the best pizza that you can get in WA in my opinion.  You can get slices or a whole pie, sit down or to go.  Easy & quick, especially if you’re on the way to an M’s or Husky game.  Their pizza is always fresh and they have many selections.

 Dick’s Drive-In -$

Dick’s has to be the number 1 restaurant in the state for the quickest and cheapest (but best tasting) food around.  You’ll get your food in at least under 3.5 minutes.  This place is great for families.  Their menu is limited with only burgers, shakes and fries but I promise, you won’t be disappointed.

If you want more ideas of where to eat in or near Seattle, definitely check out Yelp.com!  Yelp is very helpful when finding a restaurant.

Thanks for reading!!

Inspiration.

Image

For me it’s difficult to be creative.  My sister was the one born with those type of genes.  I think the only way I can be creative is by being inspired and it’s easy to be inspired by anything.  Here are a few tips on things that may spark a creative idea/thought or just inspire you!

Pinterest//Tumblr:

Ah, the joy of relaxing and checking in all of your social media sites to see what others are posting.  Ever think of looking on those sites for inspiration?  Millions of people have a Pinterest or Tumblr and are posting or re-blogging pictures/blog posts/quotes every day.  These sites are great to connect with others that have similar interests as you.  Wanting to decorate a room in your house but are stuck on what theme you should do?  Easy!  Go to Pinterest and look at house decor.  You will find millions of pins on different types of decor and I promise you will instantly be inspired.  I mainly go on Tumblr to find pictures that have been taken around the world.  I love looking at pictures of Europe and Mexico specifically.  It inspires me to travel as often as I can.

Going Out:

I try to go out on the weekends as much as I can.  I love going to different towns and going somewhere new.  I am instantly inspired when I see or try new things.  Even going to school inspires me because I know I’m able to learn things I wouldn’t be able to without being educated.  Just being with people can give you inspiration as well.  Listening to their opinion on things or what they have experienced may easily inspire you.

Magazines//New Articles:

My absolute favorite magazine is Cosmopolitan.  This magazine has everything from fashion and beauty to really interesting articles about today’s issues on things going on around the world.  In each issue, they have a page on different people who work at Cosmo.  There’s a picture of them, a little less than a paragraph on how they got their start/how they began working at Cosmo and what they do for Cosmo. This gives me a little reassurance that no matter where you began, you can work your hardest and get wherever you want to.  Any magazine can easily give you inspiration because of the pictures inside and the wonderfully-written articles.

Your Camera

Your camera holds some of your most precious memories, so why not take your camera everywhere and capture as many moments/memories as you can?  Your snapshots may inspire you in the future when you look back at them.

Reminder: Inspiration is everywhere, just take time out of your day to look around you and you will be inspired.

Tulips in the Beautiful PNW // WA

Long time, no post!  I recently had Spring Break so I took a break from posting on here.  I went to Maui, Hawaii so be expecting a post about that very soon!!

Anyways…

My family has made going to the Tulip Festival in our state an annual tradition.  My dad’s number one hobby (aside from fishing and crabbing) is taking photos.  He loves taking photos of my sister, brother and I in the tulips.

Here are a couple of pictures I took on my phone (and pictures my dad took of me) of/in the tulips! Enjoy.

Netflix: An obsession we most likely have in common.

Everyone seems to have a Netflix account nowadays, watching endless amounts of play instantly movies or TV shows.  How could you not have a Netflix account?!  Only about $9 a month with unlimited amounts of movies and TV shows. If you don’t have a Netflix account, you are definitely missing out on staying up all night playing episode after episode of a show that went off the air years ago.  Once you get one there is no going back.  You can try and restrain yourself from watching your new favorite TV show on Netflix, but you just CANNOT STOP NOW!  So many people are obsessed with Netflix at my school.  All that everyone tweets about is how they should be doing their homework but they cannot part from their computer screen because they’ve just found a great new show on Netflix.   My family has had Netflix for probably 5+ years now, even before they had Watch Instantly on your computer or TV!  So here are some of my favorite TV shows that Netflix offers: Grey’s Anatomy Currently on the 4th season!  Looove it. Image

Lost

I am on the 3rd season.  This show is very entertaining each and every episode.  It’s a must see!

Image

Gossip Girl

Ah, love some drama & admire The Upper East Side of NY?  This show is definitely for you.  I have finished all 6 seasons & am considering watching them all over again.

What are your favorites on Netflix?  Leave a comment!

High school: 10 tips on how to survive the next 4 years.

High School.  The beginning of preparing for the rest of your life.  So here are some tips on how to get through it:

1.) Go outside of your comfort zone.

Whether this be making new friends, joining a club or trying out a new sport, just do it!  I think many people are scared of failure if they try something new.  This shouldn’t be a fear!  If you go out of your comfort zone and try something new, you most likely will not regret doing so.

2.) Find motivation.

Motivation is key in high school.  You need to find a couple of things that will help you get through homework or just the next for years.  My motivation is going to a University when I graduate and getting a degree in something that I love.  What comes along with that goal is making money! 😉 I’m in the process of making a motivation board so that every time I look at it I know that I will have those things to look forward to if i’m having a bad day.  Motivation is hard to find in high school when you want to reach a certain goal, just try your best to do something that will help motivate you and help you succeed.

3.) Take a day for yourself.

Having more than a bad day?  Take a day off school.  This is going to help refresh your mind and help you get back in the groove.  Do something fun such as getting a massage or manicure or just have a movie marathon!  If you think about it, you probably don’t miss a lot of school so one day will be nothing.

4.) STOP PROCRASTINATING.

We all know this one.  But seriously, get your work done as early as you can!!!  This is going to allow you to do things you want to do earlier on in your day, and homework not be on your mind one bit.

5.) It’s okay to lose friends.

You know that best friend you have right now in middle school or early on in high school?  Well, i’m sad to say that they might not be your best friend a year or two from now.  There is  a chance they still may be and that is fantastic!  But for the most part in high school, best friends and friends will come ago.  People DO change in high school.  They’re in the process of developing their own identity which might mean having some flaws or bad experiences along the way.  Don’t be afraid of not having a lot of friends or losing some friends here and there because I promise once you get out of high school you will gain new life-long friendships.

6.) Purchase a planner and actually use it.

A planner is very handy at least when you’re an upperclassmen.  You’re most likely taking challenging classes, the SAT’s and also involved in extra curricular activities and might even have a job!  A planner is a very good thing to have for writing down your to-do lists and plan for the week.  It will help you with your priorities and remind you!  Make sure to get a “cute-looking” planner because who doesn’t want something that will make them a little excited to write down what homework they need to accomplish when they have a bright, attractive-looking planner.  Target, Lily Pulitzer and Office Depot definitely have some cute ones.

7.) Get the scoop from the upperclassmen.

If you have an sibling who is older than you and in high school while you are, ask them or their friends about the good teachers and the best classes to take.  They will have gone through the good and bad/not-so-nice teachers and can give you advice on how to either survive their class or get out of it.  They’ll also know what classes to take if you are college bound and you could find a possible tutor who is an upperclassmen who has taken a class that you might find challenging!

8.) Stay away from drama and the popular girl clique.

Every freshmen girl thrives off drama.  I was one of them and I know every girl at that time wanted to either hear a little gossip or tell a lot of gossip.  Drama, (especially girl drama) can really put a damper on your mood.  If you’re involved in a situation that many people know about and are talking about, it’s most likely very uncomfortable and is taking your mind away where it needs to be focused the most (academics).  Want to stay away from drama?  Lose the friends that are either starting the drama or are non-stop gossipers.  You will feel so much relief without them and all the negative energy will fade away.

9.) Be the teachers pet in a good way.

Try your best to get along with your teachers even if they might be horrible early on.  If your teacher likes you,  you’ll be able to gain their respect and they will most likely write you a fantastic letter of reccomendation for you when you begin applying to colleges.  Make sure and stand out whether it be raising your hand a lot in class or consistently doing well on tests!

10.) It’ll be over…soon.

I find myself making countdowns to events like Spring Break or Summer because I know i’m getting a step closer to graduating high school.  While your in it try, try, try making the best of it.  Just know even better things will be coming your way afterwards and it will be a fresh beginning to the rest of your life.

Paris

Tea

Recently I’ve been trying to drink more tea at night or in the morning. I’ve never been someone who drinks tea up until a month ago, but I find myself enjoying the drink very much! It definitely helps my relax my mind and can make me more awake if I drink tea with caffeine.  Right now I am trying different teas from Yogi.

Yogi tea and German tea are my favorites.

I definitely need some more tea recommendations, so please leave a comment telling me your favorites!

SEAHAWKS ARE IN!

And the Seahawks are headed to the 48th Super Bowl in NY!

For the past couple of years, head coach Pete Carroll of the Seattle Seahawks has been building a young & talented football team.  The coaches of the Seahawks are always looking for the best athletes when it comes to building a winning team.  Carroll has created more than a healthy team environment, he has created a family.  The Seahawks are known for doing things on & off the field, together.

In 2012, the Seahawks picked a new quarterback.  A 5’11 rookie whose name is a household name in the state of Washington.  This turned out to be one of the best decisions the team made.  Even though Wilson is short, he knows how to throw the ball accurately & move around to see where his receivers are. The Seahawks have been the IT team for the past two years when it comes to football.  They deserve to go to the Super Bowl because of their unbelievable determination and hard-work when it comes to playing the game. I’m truly proud to be a Washingtonian because of our Seahawks!! ImageImageImage Image

Winter Essentials

Winter, the coldest season of the year. Whether you live on the West Coast or East Coast or in between the two, it can get freezing.

Here are some of my fashion essentials for staying warm for these long couple of months.

Infinity Scarves

Image

Infinity scarves are a must for a women’s wardrobe.  The knitted ones in basic colors will make your outfit pop & complete.

Uggs

Image

Uggs are probably the BEST investment I have ever made.  They.Are.Wonderful! They literally make my whole body feel warm.

Flannels

Image

Flannels are a comfy yet boho-chic type of clothing.  They’re perfect if you want to look nice but make it seem like you didn’t try too hard in the morning.

Bean Boots by L.L. Bean

Image

My mom had a pair of these when I was young & I thought they were so ugly.  Now, I find myself wanting a pair.  They are perfect for rainy weather.

Thermals

Image

Thermals will keep you extra warm under a sweatshirt or just about anything you wear.  I like to get mine at Target!

The North Face Fleece

Image

Anything by North Face is bound to keep you warm.  Their fleece coats will keep you the warmest, though.

Vests

Image

My new obsession?  Vests!  You can pair them with anything & you will still look cute.  I like to wear mine with a nice button-down shirt & a statement necklace.  You can find these vests at JCrew.  If you want to find one cheaper but that is nice, check out The North Face or Land’s End.

Wool Socks

Image

My dad is always raving about his wool socks & how warm they are.  He buys his at REI and Land’s End.  They are a must-have for winter.

Hunter Boots

Image

I love my Hunter Boots.  They’re very practical for me because I live in the most rainiest state of all.  My mom got a lining for them to keep me warm.  I have them in Matte Black!
